Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge vie for your attention as premium smartphones from the Note series of Samsung. Though they are quite similar in many aspects, they have their own differences. Let us look at how they fare –
When it comes to sheer aesthetics, Note Edge definitely has an edge literally and figuratively over Note 4. The notifications, apps, tickers, widgets, alerts etc can be placed on the curved right edge of the phone, that looks like an infinity pool. So, you can, for instance, watch a movie without making the controls come on the screen.
The Note Edge has a marginally smaller screen size at 5.6 inches compared to Note 4 which is 5.7 inches. The Edge is also slimmer than Note 4, the former is 8.3 mm compared to the latter one at 8.5 mm. While Note 4 gives you a lengthier feel, Note Edge is more on the wider side.
Note 4 has a quad HD resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels while Note Edge has a quad HD resolution of 1600×2560 pixels with 160 extra pixels on the side. Note 4 has a PPI of 515 while Note Edge has it at 524 PPI. Both have Super AMOLED display screens.
Processor and RAM
Both Note 4 and Note Edge have quad-core Snapdragon 805 CPU or Exynos 5433 octa-core CPU, but the processing speed on Note 4 is faster at 2.7 Ghz, while Edge runs at 2.5 Ghz. The RAM is the same, 3 GB for both.
Galaxy Note 4 has an internal storage space of 32 GB, while the Note Edge has two internal storage variants- 16 GB and 32 GB. The external storage capacity can be expanded up to 64 GB for both the smartphones.
There is no difference in the camera aspect for both Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge. The camera at the back is 16 MP with OIS feature (Optical Image Stabilization) and the front camera on both the phones have 3.7 megapixel resolution.
Galaxy Note 4 has a powerful battery at 3220 mAH but the Edge is also not bad at 3000 mAH. Both phones have rapid charging technology which helps both the phones get 50 percent charged in half an hour. There is also the ultra power-saving mode in both the phone, so that they can have the battery strength for as long as a day, even when the battery falls under 10 percent.
