How is Google Nexus 7 better than the First Generation

For just $30 more than the first generation tablet, this device is packed with amazing set of features. The pixel density in the second generation is much better than the first one, giving a super resolution of 323 PPI, as against 216 of the old one. It is a great tablet to watch movies, play games and indulge in lot of multimedia activity

The New Google Nexus 7 has speakers on either side, offering a surround-sound effect. They are smartly placed along a curved border of the device.

While the old model had a front-facing camera, the new Google Nexus 7 has a 5 megapixel camera.

Size wise, the tablet is quite light at  just 10.2 ounces.  It has a sleek, lead look and it is 17 percent slimmer than the older version. The rubbery back is scratch-resistant.

The new Android OS has the ‘restricted profiles’ option which works great on this device too. So, you can choose which apps or functionalities, the person you add on your device can access.  Some apps like email and the Gmail do not work on restricted access mode. So, if  you want to give your tablet to a friend to check her email, you will have to give her total access to the app or she can access the email through the web browser

 Google New Nexus 7 vs iPad Mini

The tablet beats iPad on the price and many other aspects. The 16 GB model costs $229 but it is less than iPad Mini which is priced at $329.  iPad Mini. While the latter has a bigger screen real-estate, the  new Google Nexus 7 makes up for its really sharp, crisp resolution.  While the resolution display is just 163 PPI for iPad Mini, it is 323 for the Nexus 7.

Both iOS and Android are rich in terms of number of apps.  The apps designed for Android smartphones work seamless on tablets, the apps adjust in size automatically to the big screen tablets. The iPhone apps seem shrunk in size on the iPad or iPad Mini.

If you already have an Android smartphone, you can for new Google Nexus 7, it can be a worthy extension to your phone.  The apps that you use on your Android phone like for instance, a Samsung Galaxy S4 or Galaxy Note, can automatically work with your tablet as well.  If you had bookmarked some websites on your smartphone browser, the same can be transferred easily to your Google new Nexus 7 as well.

If you have an iPhone, you can go for iPad Mini or wait for its newer version

Google New Nexus 7 Price

Google New Nexus 7 with the price tag of $229 beats iPad Mini in the price factor and also in screen resolution. The Amazon Kindle Fire HD is priced at $199 but it does not hold the candle when it comes to the sheer amount of apps available with the Nexus 7 at Google Playstore. Also, it is worth going paying just $30 extra for Google New Nexus 7 compared to the old version (priced at $199) because you end up buying the best 7 inch tablet till date.

So, for a 16 GB tablet, the price is $229. If you are willing to pay $40 more, you end up GB. The price of Google Nexus 7 with 4G capability is $349 which is much lesser than the iPad Mini 32 GB with 4G which is priced at a whopping $559.

The price of the new Google Nexus 7 in India may be priced tentatively at Rs.13500 for the 16 GB version, Rs.15800 may be the price of the 32 GB one while the 4G version will cost Rs. 20,500. The release date has been kept close to the US release date. In India, the new Google New Nexus 7 releases

Conclusion

While the smartphone market is dominated by Android, the tablet market still rests with Apple iPad. Google Nexus 7 may just break that dominance at least in the ‘mini tablet’ group.
