Google Pixel – What you wanted to know

Google has released its new smartphones, Pixel and Pixel XL. The two phones’ release have stonewalled the release of Nexus brand for good.  Let us find out how these two Google phones have in store for us.

Google Pixel and Pixel XL specs

Both phones come with similar specs except for minimal variation, especially in the size factor.   Google Pixel comes in a 5-inch screen size, while Google Pixel XL comes in a 5.5 inch variant.

While the Pixel comes with a full HD resolution, while Pixel XL has quad HD resolution on an AMOLED screen.  Both phones have Gorilla Glass 4 protection.

Both phones come in 32 GB and 128 GB internal storage options.  Google Pixel and Pixel XL have a Snapdragon 821 Chipset, with 4GB RAM.  Both phones have unlimited Google Photos storage support. So, even if you take a 32 GB variant, you can store the rest of the data on the cloud.

Both Google Pixel and Pixel XL have the all-new Android 7.1 Nougat. The 12-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture lens and 1.55µm pixels. The phone has features like electronic image stabilization, HDR+  and Smartburst technology.

Both the phones have the impressive Daydream VR that will be available for users in November. From getting a real life tour of Taj Mahal to having your own planetarium in the phone, the VR is worth a round of applause.

The phones come with USB Type-C chart, 3.5 mm audio jack and the Pixel Imprint fingerprint sensor. The quick charger 3.0 allows the phone to be charged for 7 hours, in just 15 minutes.

Google Pixel – Battery

While the Pixel is powered by 2,770 mAh battery, the bigger Pixel XL has a 3450mAh battery.

Google Pixel Price and release date

Both variants are available for purchase in countries like the US, UK, Germany, Australia and Canada from October 4, 2016. In India, the phones will be available for release in pre-order format from October 13.  Both phones come in attractive color variations like Quite Black, Very Silver and Really Blue (limited edition).

While the price of Google Pixel has been kept at $649 as starting price, the price of Google Pixel XL has been kept at $769. The phones can be bought through Verizon for a monthly payment of $27. In India, Google Pixel has been priced at Rs. 57,000.  One can also buy the smartphones in an unlocked format through the Google Store.
