Samsung Galaxy S3 Overheating Problems (Fix)

Some Samsung Galaxy S3 models have been plagued with overheating issues.  A Dublin based Galaxy SE user said that his handset exploded when he kept it on the mount of his car. “I was driving along with my Samsung Galaxy S3 in the car mount when I notice this white flame, some sparks and a loud bang. I took it to the carphone warehouse but they wouldn’t replace it for me. They sent it out to be checked and I didn’t even get a replacement phone. Finally the phone was as good as nothing and it is now a piece of plastic, not good enough to be a toy also.”

The user is clearly livid. “They could have burnt the side of my face or maybe if it was in my pocket or in the bedside area near my head, things would have been much worse and dangerous.”

Samsung however had said that there may have been external pressure pre-empted on the pone causing the device to be exploded.  Later it conducted investigations and admitted. There have been recent online posts displaying pictures of a Samsung GALAXY S3 that appears to have heat-related damage at the bottom of the device. Samsung is aware of this issue and will begin investigating as soon as we receive the specific product in question.

“Once the investigation is complete, we will be able to provide further details on the situation. We are committed to providing our customers with the safest products possible and are looking at this seriously.”

Samsung  Galaxy  S3 Overheating Issue  (Fix)

  1.  It has not been six months since Samsung Galaxy S3 has come out. So in most cases, they are in warranty. So in case, you feel that your handset is overheating, get in touch with your dealer, authorized center or manufacturer and get the device replaced.
  2. Quad-core phones are known to get hot during use. Remember that phones do not have fan blowing air over heat-sync to keep it cool.  But if it becomes really hot, please refer to the point 1.
  3. Install an app like Androsensor which takes battery readings and temperatures.  The cause for concern would be if the temperature goes above 103 degrees.  It will also show battery health status.
