Sony Xperia Z2 Overheating Issue

Sony Xperia Z2 is one of the most stylish looking phones with an impressive performance and great features. But it is not a perfect phone, and has its share of issues, one of them being the overheating problem, particularly when shooting videos in 4k.  For one, it is better to not shoot 4K videos for an extended duration.  This is because shooting in super high quailty 4K resolutation can sap the battery life and demand high performance from the processor and RAM.

If you really want to shoot 4k resolution videos,  you should install an SD card with maximum storage and shoot 4k videos in small bursts, which should about a few minutes at a time.  Xperia Z2 can work with capacity cards up to 128 GB.  Also, Sony has come up with a fix to improve overheating issue. You can check this by going to the settings of your phone – About Phone – Software Updates- System Updates.

  1. I’ve used sony xperia phones since the first T series. I’ve always liked sony xperia phone’s camera and many of their software functions. But this new issue with the camera overheating, even when in normal mode not 4k, on the Z2 has seriously rendered the phone pretty much useless. I am really disappointed with sony. It feel like the Z2 was rushed to put out on the market and skipped all the necessary testings. I don’t know about what most people think but to me, this is very unprofessional for a well established company like sony and I am not liking it one bit. I hope members from sony realizes that if they don’t take a more serious look at the quality and functionality of their xperia phone products, they will soon loose many of their long-term customers (including me). I am hoping that sony will come up with a fix to this camera overeating issue in the next month or so. If not, I will be dropping this phone and switching to samsung s5. If I am to spend $500+ on a smartphone, I’d want to spend it on one that is reliable and worth the price. Z2 as of now is unfortunately not.
