Huawei appears to be preparing the next generation of its foldable laptop, the MateBook Fold, for launch later this year. Ahead of any official announcement, a new leak has shed light on the upcoming model’s colour options, storage configurations and a few key hardware details, giving an early glimpse of what buyers can expect.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, Huawei is planning several flagship launches for the second half of 2026, including a new MateBook Fold. The foldable laptop is tipped to arrive in three new finishes: Streaming Gold, Sky White and Phantom Black. While Sky White was offered on the previous generation, the new gold finish could become a fresh addition to the lineup.
The leak also suggests that Huawei will introduce more storage choices than before. The upcoming MateBook Fold is expected to be available in 24GB RAM with 512GB storage, 24GB RAM with 1TB storage, and a higher-end 32GB RAM with 2TB storage variant. The first-generation model was limited to 32GB RAM with either 1TB or 2TB storage, so the additional option could make the device more accessible to a wider range of users.
The tipster claims the new MateBook Fold will continue to feature a large foldable OLED display paired with an upgraded hinge mechanism. While exact display specifications have not been confirmed, the first-generation model featured an 18-inch dual-layer flexible OLED screen that folded into a compact 13-inch form factor, offering up to 1,600 nits peak brightness and support for the P3 wide colour gamut.
Another report indicates that the foldable laptop could be powered by Huawei’s Kirin X9 series chipset. The company is also said to be focusing on reducing production costs, raising expectations that the upcoming model could arrive at a more competitive price than its predecessor. However, Huawei has not officially confirmed these details yet.
