Poco X8 5G moniker appears on major certification, launch looks closer

There have been rumors that Poco will expand its X8 lineup by introducing a third model called the Poco X8, alongside the existing Poco X8 Pro and Poco X8 Pro Max. That speculation now appears to be accurate, as the device’s name has surfaced on a major certification platform, indicating that its official debut could be drawing closer.

The Poco X8 5G has received approval from Thailand’s NBTC certification platform. The listing confirms the model number 2607DPC18G and clearly mentions the Poco X8 moniker. Apart from confirming the commercial name, the certification identifies the device as a 5G mobile phone. As is usually the case, the listing does not reveal any hardware specifications, but its appearance suggests that the handset is progressing towards launch in global markets. As can be seen below, the device has also been approved by Singapore’s IMDA certification platform.

The certification follows an earlier claim by tipster Kacper Skrzypek, who said on X that the Poco X8 5G will arrive as a rebadged version of the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G, which recently made its debut in China. If that information is accurate, the Poco X8 is expected to share most of its hardware with the Redmi-branded device.

Poco X8 specifications (expected)

The Poco X8 5G is expected to feature a 6.83-inch 1.5K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 3200 nits peak brightness, HDR10+ support, and 3840Hz PWM dimming. It may be powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The device is also expected to ship with Android 16-based HyperOS 3.

For photography, it could include a 50-megapixel main camera, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Other expected highlights include a massive 9,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, an in-display fingerprint scanner, NFC, IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings.
