ASUS Z01KD is one of the smartphones that was spotted around two weeks ago among other models like ASUS Z01KDA, ASUS X00ID, ASUS Z01GD, ASUS Z01MD, and ASUS A006. The ASUS X00ID has already launched as ZenFone 4 Max. It appears that the company also has some other variants of ZenFone 4 Max. Rest of other models belong to the upcoming ZenFone 4 series. Among them ASUS Z01KD and ASUS Z01KDA are expected to debut as ZenFone 4. The ZenFone 4 Z01KD has already appeared on Geekbench. After its appearance on benchmarking site, many tech portals started claiming that it is running on Snapdragon 660. However, it seems that it is an incorrect information as it seems to be running on Snapdragon 630.
On Geekbench, the ASUS ZenFone 4 is mentioned to be powered by Qualcomm’s processor sdm660 which suggested that it is running on Snapdragon 660 chipset. However, a well-known leakster @krispitech has compared the processor ID and clock speed of processor of ASUS Z01KD with Sharp FS8010 (running on SD 630) and OPPO R11 (running on SD 660) and has found that ASUS phone is running on Snapdragon 630.
Sharp F8010’s processor clock speed is also 2.21 GHz and ASUS Z01KD’s processor speed is also 2.21 GHz. Both have the same processor ID – 2049. However, the Sharp FS8010 is powered by Snapdragon 630 which suggests that the ASUS Z01KD also features the same chipset. According to Geekbench listing, its other specs include 4 GB RAM and Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
These finding suggest that ASUS ZenFone 4 will be coming in two CPU variants featuring Snapdragon 630 and Snapdragon 660.
