The Galaxy Note 4 is the latest smartphone-phablet from Samsung. The Galaxy S6 flagship phone is rumored to launch early next year. Presented below is a comparison between these two incredible gadgets.
The Design
The Galaxy Note 4 is a large smartphone. It measures 153.5 X 78.6 X 8.5mm and weighs 176g. The body is made up of plastic polycarbonate with a faux leather feel. The fake stitching seen on the Note 3 has been done away with. Also, the Note 4’s casing is protected and surrounded by a metal rim on the sides. The front panel has a physical home button with an integrated fingerprint sensor. It is flanked by the usual capacitive back keys.
As opposed to the plastic casing and the much disliked dimpled and perforated rear of the S5, the Galaxy S6 may feature a robust and rugged aluminum frame. The gorgeous metallic unibody will also come with IP68 water and dust resistant qualities, thereby guarding the device from accidental spillage and natural hazards like dust and extreme heat. This option is not available on the Note 4. Rumored specifications include dimensions of 152.5x 70.1 x 6.8 mm and a weight of just 115 g.
The Screen
The Galaxy Note 4 features a 5.7 inches screen with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels and 515 ppi. The Quad HD Super AMOLED screen offers spectacular displays with deep contrasts, vivid intense colors, and incredible viewing angles. Every minute detail is noticeable. The screen also comes with many novel features such as adaptive display wherein the light changes as per the picture seen on the screen thereby offering optimal viewing pleasure.
The new TV sets offered by Samsung feature curved screens. It is therefore speculated that the Galaxy S6 will come with a bendable, curved screenfor immersive viewing. As opposed to the 5.1inches screen size on the S5, the S6 will have an Ultra High Definition 5.2 or 5.3 inches,scratch proof Gorilla Glass 3screen with either a 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels) display, or a 3D OLED display, or afull HD flexible display.
The Performance
The Galaxy Note 4 is available in 2 variants. One variant gets its power from a 2.5 GHz quad-coreSnapdragon 805 processor backed by the Adreno 420 GPU, while the second one is powered by a Samsung Exynos octa-core processor featuring ARM’s new A53 and A57 quad cores. Users can expect easy multitasking and seamless everyday use.Both variants come with 3GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage, and microSD external storage expandable up to 64 GB. Both run on KitKatAndroid 4.4 OS spiced up bySamsung’s TouchWiz interface and feature an enhanced S-Pen stylus with many new S-Pen compatible software additions.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 will also come in 2 versions; one may be powered by a Snapdragon 808 or 810 64-bitchipset and the Qualcomm Adreno 430GPU,while the second one may feature an Exynos 6 hexacore processor assisted by the latest ARM based Mali GPU. Both will come with an amazing 4 GB of RAM, support 4G LTE Advanced Cat 6, and come in 64GB and 128 GB variants. The S6 will probably run on Samsung UI skinned Android 5.0 Lollipop OS or even Android 6.0 Milkshake OS.
The Camera
The Galaxy Note 4 is equipped with a very capable 16 MP rear camera. It has several great features like wide angle shots, 120 degrees of spatial awareness,a 90degreesdefaultshooting angle, and f1.9 aperture that allows almost 60 percent extra light into the camera. One of the best features of this camera is the OIS or optical image stabilization system which is instrumental in getting enriched shots, clearer photos, and better videosunder dim light conditions. On the front panel is a solid 3.7 MP camera featuring many new options, including a novel panorama mode which can be used to shoot wider scenes and ‘selfies’ like group photos.
There is not much information about the cameras on the Galaxy S6 but it is rumored that the ‘superphone’ will come with an astounding 20/21 MP rear camera with Ultra Pixel Sensor, OIS, and 8K resolution video recording. The front panel will supposedly feature a video chat ready 7 or 8 MP HD camera.
The Battery
The Note 4 comes with a 3200 mAh battery with novel features like ‘fast charging’ that charges 50 percent of the battery in 30 minutes and an ‘ultra power saving’ mode that offers nearly 24 hours on a battery with just 10 percent charge.
The battery on the Galaxy S6 will probably be upgraded to 3300mAh or 3500 mAh for supporting the heavy hardware and high-tech features. It is also speculated that the S6 may come with a monstrous 4000 mAh battery.
Pricing
In the US, the Note 4 is available with AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile,Sprint, and US Cellular for about $300 on a 24-month contract. Off-contract price is about $600.
The specs heavy Galaxy S6 will probably have an off-contract premium price of about $800.
