Apple is reportedly gearing up to launch the iPhone SE 4 as early as next week, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The report suggests that Apple will not hold a dedicated launch event for the device but will instead announce it via a press release. The iPhone SE 4 is expected to bring notable design and hardware upgrades, making it a significant departure from its predecessor.
A fresh design inspired by the iPhone 14
The iPhone SE 4 is anticipated to feature a design overhaul, moving away from the older iPhone 8-based look. It is expected to adopt the iPhone 14’s aesthetics, including a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a notch, replacing the smaller LCD screen of the previous model. The device is also said to ditch the physical home button and Touch ID, opting instead for Face ID and gesture-based navigation.
Apple’s first phone with an in-house 5G modem
One of the key highlights of the iPhone SE 4 is its expected use of Apple’s first in-house 5G modem, marking a shift from Qualcomm’s modems used in previous iPhones. This move aligns with Apple’s long-term goal of reducing reliance on third-party suppliers. The device is also likely to be powered by the A18 chipset, similar to what is expected in the upcoming iPhone 16 series, paired with 8GB of RAM for enhanced performance and support for Apple Intelligence features.
Expected pricing and availability
Reports indicate that the iPhone SE 4 could go on sale later this month, following its announcement next week. The device is expected to launch at a slightly higher price than the iPhone SE (2022), which started at Rs 43,900 in India. With inventory of the older SE model reportedly running low at Apple retail stores, it seems likely that the company is preparing to introduce its successor soon.
