The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus have had an issue with the life of their battery. Apple claimed that the device would have a longer battery life than the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus respectively, but this has not been the case. Many users are getting frustrated by having to plug in their devices for charging more often than before.
Here are some solutions that may help you lengthen the battery life of your iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 plus:
The issue will resolve itself in a few days
When you get your new iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 plus, or you have upgraded the iOS, you may notice that the battery life becomes shorter than before. Do not get alarmed as this is quite normal; after a few days the issue will resolve itself. However, if the drain continues for more than two days, then there might be another issue.
Use Airplane Mode where there is poor reception
When you are in an area with bad reception, your iPhone will have to use more power to get a signal. This will shorten the battery life. By putting your iPhone 7 on airplane mode, some of the unnecessary connections will be disabled, and the battery will last longer. Go to your Control Center by swiping from the bottom of the device and then toggle Airplane Mode to the “On” position. Turn this off when you get to an area with great reception.
Turn off push when you do not need it
The Push feature for notifications, calendar and email on your iPhone 7 can drain your battery very fast. If you do not need this service all the time, you can toggle it off. Go to “Settings > Notifications, and turn off the push feature. You can select which applications should maintain the push feature or turn it off for all applications. Ideally, you should set all your mail, calendar, and contacts to fetch rather than push. This means that they will be updated only when you are actively running the apps.
Restart your device
Many people do not know that restarting your iPhone 7 resets many features that usually drain the battery. If you have been using the device for many days without restarting it, you should do so when your battery life becomes short. This is a little-known fix that you should bear in mind no matter which type of Smartphone you are using.
Reset all the settings
If none of the fixes above work, then you should take a bigger step and reset all the settings on your iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 plus. Go to “Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. You will be required to enter your passcode to effect these changes. If you have not added a passcode to your device, then this final step will be unnecessary. Wait for a few minutes as this process continues; it will basically force the device to dump all previous connections and passwords. This will improve the battery life of your device. You should note that this is NOT resetting the device to factory default so you will not lose any data.
