Some Xperia Z3 Compact users have reported that the touchscreen is excessively sensitive, particularly when scrolling rapidly. The screen usually tends to move inconsistently or bounce about. Follow the steps given below to resolve the issue:
- Go to Settings and disable ‘Glove mode’ if it is turned on. This will reduce the sensitivity of the touchscreen.
- Ensure that the software/OS on the Z3 is updated. You may do so by going to Settings – > About Phone – > Software Updates – > tap on System Updates. Also, make sure that all the apps are updated.
- Is you are not using a screen protector, then buy a fingerprint resistant screen protector and put it on the touchscreen.
- Go to Developer options – > turn on the option ‘Show Touches.’ Now, test the sensitivity of the touchscreen for a few seconds or minutes and then turn it off.
- Go to Settings – > Apps – > scroll to Running tab – > find the option “com.sonymobile.touchscreen.touchfilter.tfpss,’ and force stop it.
- If the issue persists, or if the ‘sensitive touchscreen’ issue has begun of late, then it may be caused due to conflicting or buggy apps.
- If the issue has been existent from the time of purchase, then users need to visit a service center for repair or replacement.
- Users may run the phone in safe mode to verify if buggy apps is the cause. It may be noted that safe mode disables non-system apps. If the ‘sensitive touchscreen’ issue is not observed in safe mode, then a particular app or apps is the cause. Users may then uninstall the apps one by one to find out the culprit app. This process can be tedious; so users can skip it and instead go for a factory reset (the steps for which are listed further below) and then selectively reinstall the apps and verify if the issue comes back. It is also important to note that factory reset erases all data, hence back up all the data before resetting the phone.
- To boot into safe mode,
- Press and hold the power button till a menu with options like ‘airplane mode,’ ‘power off,’ and ‘take screenshot,’ appears on screen.
- Tap and hold the ‘power off’ option till a pop-up with ‘reboot to safe mode’ option appears on screen. Tap on ok.
- The phone will reboot into safe mode. Safe mode can be recognized by the words ‘safe mode’ which appears on lower left hand corner of the display.
- Factory reset:This process will erase all data, hence back up the data. To perform a factory reset,
- Go to Settings – > Backup and Reset – > Factory data reset – > tap on the option ‘reset phone’ – > enter any password or pin if needed – > tap on the option ‘erase everything.’
- The phone will reboot after the reset process is complete. Now, selectively reinstall the apps to verify if and which app/apps were causing the ‘sensitive touchscreen’ problem.
