Nokia has officially confirmed that it will be launching new phones soon. The new set of Nokia phones are expected to launch in the third quarter of this year. According to a known Chinese leakster, Xiaomi and Nokia have entered a new deal which means that a forthcoming Nokia phone may be powered by Surge S1 processor from Xiaomi. Here is the Weibo post:
Xiaomi’s Surge S1 processor is not a powerful chipset but since it powers the Xiaomi Mi 5C, it can be said it is a decent SoC for a midrange phone. This indicates that an upcoming mid-range phone from Nokia may come powered with Surge S1. Recently, the Xiaomi Mi 5C was spotted on AnTuTu with a score of 58232 points.
The Surge S1 is a 28nm octa-core chipset that features quad Cortex A53 gunning at 2.2 GHz and a second set of Cortex A53 quad cores processing at 1.4 GHz. Its performance is not on par with Snapdragon 625 that have powered the mid-range phones from 2016 and 2017. However, like the Xiaomi Mi 5C, Nokia’s forthcoming Surge S1 driven phone may feature 3 GB of RAM. It may come with 32 GB or 64 GB storage.
