Xiaomi has recently released the MIUI 8.5 update to a slew of its devices. The Chinese firm has released a poster on its site to confirm on the devices that will be upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat. It reveals that the Android 7.0 Nougat and 7.1 Nougat updates will be made available to 14 devices.
The above image reveals that Xiaomi’s Android 7.0 Nougat will be coming to the following smartphones: Xiaomi Mi Max Mi 5, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, Mi 4c, Mi 4s, Mi Note Pro, Mi Note 2, Mi MIX, and Redmi Note 4X. The Android 7.1 Nougat would be coming to Xiaomi Mi6, Mi Max 2, Mi 5c and Redmi 4X.
The Chinese firm is known for releasing updates for MIUI consistently. However, the company is slow at rolling out the latest Android OS versions. The Android Nougat was officially released in August 2016, but Xiaomi is yet to release the Nougat update to its devices.
Once the aforementioned devices are upgraded to Android Nougat, the company may release MIUI 9 update to those devices. Google is expected to release Android 8.0 in August. It is likely that the Android Nougat update as well as MIUI 9 would be made available to the eligible devices before the official launch of Android 8.0. As the above image suggests, the Android Nougat update roll out will begin by July 30. Also, the text above the date in the image states that Xiaomi may also release the software update to its other devices later on.
