Now that it’s official, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is probably the least evident update in the history of Samsung flagship smartphones.
Means it appears like the Galaxy S22 Ultra but isn’t it.

Processor in Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, S23 and S23+

A specially optimized Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy is found inside the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

The most notable improvement is that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy S23 is a custom Qualcomm chipset that will be used in all S23 phones sold around the world. When compared to the other Gen 2 chipsets on the market, this one has faster clock speeds.

This time around, Samsung chose Qualcomm’s most recent SoC for its entire Galaxy S23 portfolio, therefore Exynos-powered S23s won’t be available in any markets.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 uses a Cortex-X3 core that can reach speeds of up to 3.36GHz, which is a significant increase from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2’s standard maximum of 3.2GHz.

It has been said that the Adreno (Qualcomm’s GPU cores used in their chipsets) 740 GPU runs at 719MHz, not the standard 680MHz.

Overclocking the CPU raises worries regarding overheating. Samsung’s Galaxy S23 NPU is 40% optimized for performance and power, eliminating such fears. This improves battery performance.

The Snapdragon Cognitive ISP debuts with the new chipset. This allows real-time Semantic Segmentation processing. The camera can recognize and optimise visual aspects in real time. Thus, the camera removes glass glare automatically.

Samsung Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra – Camera

There has also been an upgrade to the cameras. The changes are not as substantial as those made to the Ultra, but they are significant nonetheless.

For instance, the S22 series’ Camera RAW app has been upgraded to support 50MP resolution (up from 12MP), allowing for more detailed photographs.

The camera’s 50MP sensor remains unchanged, and with the updated chipset, it can capture 8K video at 30 frames per second (up from 24fps last year).

The 3x 10MP telephoto camera and the 12MP ultra wide camera (120° FoV) are essentially the same.

One change is that the Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23+ now have a front-facing camera with a resolution of 12 megapixels. Super HDR is now supported in video recording at 60 frames per second.

The primary camera is also significantly enhanced .An adaptive 200MP ISOCELL HP2 sensor from Samsung has the ability to merge 16 pixels into one, yielding a final resolution of 12 megapixels with pixels measuring 2.4 micrometres on their own.Alternatively, it may merge its pixels 4-to-1 to produce a 50-megapixel image with increased detail.

The Galaxy S23 series is the first to include Samsung’s Expert RAW software as a mode within the original camera app, allowing users to capture RAW photographs at up to 50MP with the advantages of multi-frame processing, such as improved detail, HDR, and noise reduction.

There’s a brand-new Astro Hyperlapse video feature on the Galaxy S23 Ultra. With the new sensor’s 2x wider OIS angle – compensating for about 3°, compared to the S22 Ultra’s 1.5° – and Adaptive VDIS, which analyses and subdivides movements and identifies lighting conditions, the new main camera achieves better video stabilization than the old 108MP main camera.

A brand-new 12MP f/2.2 autofocus front-facing camera is included, similar to what’s seen on the Galaxy S23 line.

All three of the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s rear cameras are nearly identical to those found on the Galaxy S22 Ultra: a 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide camera with autofocus, a 10MP 3x f/2.4 shorter telephoto unit, and a 10MP 10x periscope camera.

While the camera specs are the same for all 3 models,  the Galaxy S23 Ultra features a Wide-angle Camera of 200.0MP, while the other two models have it at 50.0 MP.

Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23 + Storage

The Galaxy S23 Ultra is now available in four colors (Phantom Black, Green, Cream, and Lavender) and up to four storage combinations (starting at 256GB): 8/256GB, 12/256GB, 12/512GB, and the top-end 12/1TB.

Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23 + RAM

The phones come with many storage configurations, but RAM is fixed at 8GB just like it was since the past 2 years.

Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23 +, S23, S23 Ultra  Display and Screen Size

The screens have also been updated but otherwise stick to the same design as last year, much like the cameras.

This entails FHD+ resolution, 48-120Hz refresh rate, and a flat Dynamic AMOLED 2X display (240Hz touch sampling rate in Game Mode).

Galaxy S23 Ultra packs in 3088 x 1440 (Edge Quad HD+) resolution with a refresh rate of 1~120Hz, and and a flat Dynamic AMOLED 2X display.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra also debuts the new Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on both the front and back, a significant enhancement that improves the phone’s durability and safety.

6.1-inch screen is found on the standard Galaxy S23, while a 6.6-inch one can be found on the larger Galaxy S23+. S23 Ultra has a 6.8 inch screen.

This year’s updates include Vision Booster, which modifies the display’s hues and levels of contrast to suit the current lighting, and Enhanced Comfort, which does the same thing in the evening to ease tired eyes.

Samsung Galaxy S23, S23 +, S23 Ultra – Charging Time and Battery Size

The S23 and S23+ have batteries that are 3,900mAh and 4,700mAh, respectively, which is an increase of 200mAh and 100mAh over their forerunners.

Both the S23 and S23+ can be charged from 0% to 50% in 30 minutes when connected to a wall outlet, but the S23+ requires 45W.  Naturally, wireless power transfer and charging are still supported.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra also retains the primary feature of its predecessor, the long-lasting battery. Both the 5,000mAh capacity and the maximum 45W charging speed remain unchanged.

Within 30 minutes on the charger, the S23 Ultra, according to Samsung, will be 65% charged.

S23 gives unto 22 hours of video playback, S23+ gives up to 26 hours of video playback and S23 Ultra can deliver up to 27 hours of video playback.
