Samsung Galaxy S4 is expected to battle for smartphone flagship with iPhone 6 with more advanced featured likely to be seen in this phone. South Korean website MT has reported that the successor of Galaxy S3 is set to introduce a 5-inch full high definition super AMOLED screen, which has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels.
The screen is said to have a pixel density of 441 pixels per inch. In addition, the display could have Corning Gorilla Glass for extra protection. With reports indicating that Gorilla Glass 3 will be unveiled at Consumer Electronics Show- CES in 2013, it is likely that it will be available sometimes later in the year. However, there is no word indicating whether Samsung will go for the upgrade.
HTC seems to be advancing for release of another smartphone with a display of 1080 pixel. Sources indicate that Taiwanese manufacturer, HTC, is braising up for an advanced version of DroidNDA, which is codenamed M7.
Reports point out that HTC aims at producing more than 5 million M7 units that are set to be released in the first quarter of 2013. It is anticipated that HTM M7will feature a 4.7 inch screen which has a similar resolution for the S4 phone but with more pixel density of 468 ppi. If this turns out to be true, this pixel it will be about 40% higher than the Retina display of iPhone 5 smartphone.
Unwired View further claims that this device has a new screen technology referred to as Solux Display. This technology offers more visual improvement when compared to the previous Super LCD2 standard display. As the competition in smartphones increases, more and more features are expected to be divulged and certainly, the M7 and Galaxy S4 display screens are much anticipated by the smartphone users.
Operating System, User Interface, Processor and Memory
As anticipations are geared up for the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC M7 smartphones, more advanced features are likely to be unveiled. Samsung is expected to release its Galaxy S4 with Jelly Bean’s operating system, Android 4.2.1 if not a more advanced version. There is also a possibility that it may feature Key Lime Pie or Android 5.0 if this upcoming software is released in time.
Additionally, S4 is more likely to keep hold of the existing TouchWiz user interface that is used on the predecessor phone Galaxy S3. Similarly, HTC sources have reported that their M7 smartphone will be running Android 4.1.2 or the Jelly Bean. Nonetheless, they are expected to feature a new version of user interface, Sense UI v5.0 that has been said to more cleaner and simpler to use.
In addition, M7 has some more tweaks with the on-screen volume control option expected to feature in the phone. This on-screen volume control option has a shortcut that enables users to gain access to volume setting features with only a click of a button. Much more is anticipated in the processor and memory features of the two hones.
Reports from SamMobile indicate that S4 is more likely to incorporate the Exynos 5450 chip that features a quad-core processor, which is locked at 2GHz. This will be run with a RAM of 2GB and a Mali-T658 graphics unit making it a more powerful smartphone. On the other hand, HTC reports that M7 is likely to run with a 1.7GHz Qualcomm APQ8064 Snapdragon quad-core processor. This will be paired with a RAM of 2GB.
Samsung Galaxy S4 vs HTC M7: Camera, Internet Connectivity and Storage Capacity
As both Samsung and HTC look forward to showcase their newest smartphones at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, there are lots of expectations in the Galaxy 4 and M7 units. Some of the features which users are keen to find out if there will be any notable improvements are the Cameras, Connectivity and Storage capacity of these phones.
GSM Arena holds that Galaxy 4 is likely to have an internal storage capacity of 16GB and this comes with an additional microSD slot that enables users to expand their storage to a higher capacity of 64GB. HTC has hinted that M7 may feature a storage capacity of 32GB but without a microSD slot and this means that users aspiring to upgrade to bigger storage capacity of up to 64GB may be disadvantaged.
In terms of connectivity, claims from GSM Arena indicate that Galaxy S4 may feature additional support for G4 LTE and Near Field Communication-NFC. Similarly, Unwired View hints that M7 HTC’s smartphone is likely to provide 802.11 a/b/g/n standards for the Wi-Fi internet connections together with an LTE connection.
For the Camera features, claims from T3 have hinted that Galaxy S4 will feature a 2-megapixel front facing camera and a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera. The main rear camera is expected to support HD video at 1080 pixels and image recording at 30 frames per second.
On the other hand, Unwired View has hinted that M7 may feature similar camera features. Until HTC and Samsung release their new next generation phones, users will only have to figure what is expected. M7 is anticipated to be released in Q1 of 2013 and this coincides with the release period for previous smartphones for HTC. The release date for Galaxy S4 may be announced during the 2013 Mobile World Congress-MWC in February in Spain.
